One Month

I can't believe that we have had this little blessing for a month already! It has been so much fun. I truly love being a mom and couldn't be blessed with any better of a baby. Dax is so sweet, he eats and sleeps so well. He only wakes up twice during the night (9PM-9AM) to eat and goes right back to sleep. I think that's pretty great, Curt and I at least feel like we are getting plent of sleep so far! Dax also has a really easy-going temperment (thanks to Curt's wonderful genes!). He is easy to soothe and spends his days happy, sleeping and eating. We love this little guy and are loving everyday we have with him!
Dax has taken a bottle of breastmilk a couple times, mostly just so that Dad gets to feed him sometimes and so that he knows how to take a bottle, if need be. This night, Dax thought he would send us a message of just what he thought of our bottle-feeding idea. He used both his middle fingers to hold up his bottle and did it all on his own, it was hilarious!

We are so Blessed

Dax Morrison Asay was blessed by his Father on February 7th, 2010. It was such a beautiful day! We started the day getting ready at home. Dax wore a special white suit from Nana (my Mom) and looked so handsome! He also had a beautiful white afgan, handmade from Grandma Great, priceless. Curtis and Dax had a talk about what his day would be like and then Mom caught them both snoozing!Dax was blessed at church by Curtis. Dax is lucky to have so many wonderful priesthood holders in his immediate family. His blessing circle included His Dad, Two Grandpas, One Great Grandpa and Seven uncles. It was such a beautiful and powerful blessing. Some of the things Curtis said during the prayer included;
'You have a great legacy to follow. You've been blessed with a mother to lead and guide you. Have an open mind, great attitude and be positive in everything. I bless you to love the gospel, serve a mission and share it with others. I bless you to find an eternal companion and marry in the temple of the Lord. I bless you to make righteous choices, study hard and become a valuable member of society. I bless you to be an example to friends, family and siblings to come. Be a light, shine forth and share the gospel.I bless you to know that you are light in our lives and remind us of the hope and joy that there is.'
It was such a beautiful blessing. I couldn't have been more proud of my Husband or my beautiful son. I love them so much. After Sacrament meeting (including beautiful testimonies from both of Dax's Grandmas!) all of Curt's family and my family went to my parents house for lunch. It was so great to have the family together and spend such a wonderful day with so many loved ones. It was truly a blessed day.In 2004 I was a Senior in High School and went to Europe with my family on Spring Break. One place we visited was Brugge, Belgium (the lace capital of the world). I loved it! While there I purchased these white baby booties in hopes of being a Mother someday and having my children wear them on thier blessing day. During that same Spring Break, Curtis got his mission call and I thousands of miles away listened to him open his call. Putting these booties on Dax and having Curtis take my son in his arms and bless him was truly a spiritual, full-circle moment for me.The happy family.Eternal.We were so blessed to have so many family members at Dax's blessing. Here we are with my Mom (Nana) and my Mom's Mom (Grandma Great). 4 Generations.Generations of hands.Dax and Grandma Great.Wisdom and innocence. Dax and Great Grandpa Asay. One of the amazing men he was named after. And one of the men whom was referred to as a "Great legacy to follow" from Curtis' blessing. Dax and Papa, another great man of that legacy that we hope Dax follows.
Dax will be blessed with 4 more cousins this year! Here are all the 2010 Moms!Belly shot! From the left: Me (January baby boy), Michelle- Curt's sister-in-law (April baby girl), Kalie- my sister (May baby boy), Jessica- my sister-in-law (June baby girl) and Kathy- Curt's sister (July baby girl).

Week 3

Week 3 was filled with all sorts of excitement. Dax had more visitors come to see him! His Aunt Kalie flew in from Phoenix and Great Grandma Hillyard flew all the way from Idaho. Dax is still doing a great job sleeping and is starting to be less yellow and open his eyes wider and wider. We are still loving being parents! Aunt Kalie loves monkeys, so Dax dressed to impress!Grandma Great did an excellent job rocking Dax to sleep!
Kalie got lots of practice holding a baby, She is due in May with a baby boy (her first as well)! This was such a cute little outfit, I couldn't help taking a whole slew of pictures in it! (Thanks Sarah!)
.. such a sweet little guy!
