Happy Halloween

Our family went GREEN this year for Halloween.
Dax dressed up as a frog
and little Rockwell was a tadpole.
And together, our amphibians were just ADORABLE.
We started our our Halloween night by trick-or-treating Great Grandpa at his nursing home. It was his first time meeting Rockwell (dressing up as a pumpkin for this visit)!
(Asay cousins, at Great Grandpa's!... yes, this was the best picture I got.)
Then we went trunk-or-treating at our church. It was the perfect distance to keep Dax's attention, he had a great time saying his "trick-or-treat!"s and "thank you!"s.

Although, he still did get distracted with all the fun leaves, from time-to-time.

It was a good night to be GREEN.

Ding Dong Ditchers

Have you ever tried ding-dong ditching with a 1 year old?
We knew it would be impossible because (1) we wanted to do in the daylight (before bedtime) and (2) after each stop Dax would have to be re-buckled into his car seat. What we didn't expect was at the first stop (Curtis' brother's home) Dax would throw a fit about leaving, his best buddy, Wyatt's house without getting to play. Thus making each stop difficult as we explained that we were just stopping momentarily at all his friend's/cousin's/aunt's/uncle's/grandparent's/nana's/papa's homes. It was hard to understand as a 1 year old why we were getting out of the car, seeing someone he loves and then making him get right back into his car seat and leaving. Poor little guy, he loves his family so much.
But we had a great time none-the-less.
DING-DONG... RUN, Dax, RUN!

Autumn fun

Boy, this year has flown by. Curtis and I have often remarked on how this time last year Dax wasn't even crawling and one short year later he is a big brother. So much has changed and so little at the same time. Last year we went to this Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch and had such a great time that came back this year. (Dax, last year at the corn maze).
Rockwell's experience at the Corn Maze...
The four of us, and our pumpkins.
Dax was a little nervous about the Tractor Ride at first, but ended up loving it.
Life is so great as a family of four. I don't know how we ever did without these two little guys in our lives, everything is just more fun with kids- including Autumn.

G-Baby, round 2

When we announced that we were expecting with Dax we made our parent's "jerseys" with the number on the back associating with what number of grandbaby (g-baby) our baby would be for our parents (look back, here).
We did the same with round 2.
I had to dig back to find this picture, taken 2/26/11, before we gave the onesies away. The only problem with this picture is that Rockwell never ended up wearing his #19 jersey, because, he was actually #20 for Curtis' parents. We announced our pregnancy before Morgan & Melissa who had #19 2.5 weeks before us!
#19 & #20 (Rockwell & Rowynn) at 3 days & 3 weeks old.
Grandma to 20.

Nana & Papa to 9.
Rockwell and Dax are only 20 Months apart and have 7 cousins born in-between them, pretty amazing.

Dax's Pumpkin

Dax decorated this beautiful pumpkin and it turned into the inspiration for our pumpkin carving, this year.
But it all started with a pumpkin and some knives,
then some gutting of the pumpkin,
 and some pumpkin-gut squirming,
 then drawing out the plan.
and then..
Ta-DA!

Allergies suck.

We had Dax's annual allergy testing today, everything sucks about allergies and as you can see, that includes allergy testing. Note all four "owies".
Both his egg and dairy allergies came back positive again this year, we'll have another year before we are tested again. Sucks. Sucks, for all of us.

My Grandma embroiders flannel blankets for all of her great grand kids. We got Rockwell's in the mail today!
Dax wanted to pose with his too!
 Thanks Grandma Great!

Mowing with Dad

Curtis is a great Dad. He got such a bad cramp in his hand from mowing our whole back yard with one hand (because of holding back both the release and steering) so Dax could help him. Dax adores his Dad and wants to do everything with him, no matter how boring the task.

Roommates

At two weeks old we were ready for Rockwell to start sleeping in his crib and Dax was thrilled to have a roommate.
I was so nervous that Rockwell would wake up Dax and Dax would wake up Rockwell and they both would keep their parents up all night. But much to my surprise and joy, they have done terrific! Dax loves to wake up and see Rockwell over in his crib. He'll yell "Good Morning, Rocko!" and jump up and down. Dax has been so sweet and great with Rockwell and so far (knock on wood) everyone is getting plenty of sleep at our house!
Plus there isn't much sweeter than sneaking into your kids room and see two sleeping little boys in their beds and matching jammies.

Successes & Failures

My first day home alone with both boys had both successes and failures. And so it goes with Motherhood, you take the good with the bad.
While I nursed Rockwell, Dax got into the Vaseline and smeared it all over his face, hands, clothes and my shoes (why my shoes? Oh, because he was hiding with it in my closet, he knew he wasn't supposed to be getting into it!).... Failure.
But just a few hours later, I got a nap while my boys were both asleep in their cribs for nap time. Ahh, sweet Success.
Because of the odd position Dax was sleeping in, he woke up with the embroidered star imprinted perfectly over his eye, he looked like a super hero!
This job is the greatest, the good and the bad.
