We are all slowly adjusting to our new life. And so far, are loving it and doing great
Though, I will admit we are still in the honeymoon period of post-babyhood. My mom has been cooking dinners for us, my Dad stops by to play with Dax, we have visitors most days stopping by and telling me how cute my baby is, Curtis has had a lighter than normal schedule because of Fall Break and Finals week at Krannert and where most the time Rockwell looks like this:
(the crying.. he doesn't get bathed multiple times a day!)
And every once in a while, will look like this:
(It's hard work trying to figure out how to simultaneously open and control those little eyes!)
Dax has been doing better than I ever dreamed, adjusting to a baby brother in our house. Every morning he goes running to find "baby" (we are still trying to convince Dax he has a name other than "baby"). He shows him some attention, but not too much that it becomes a hassle.
He loves to hold Rockwell a couple times a day, but then announces he is "all done" and jumps down to find something else to do.
We've had a couple "learning moments" with Dax where we remind him that this is appropriate:
and poking baby brother's eyes is not:
But over the past week Dax has really started to play by himself more and more often. He will find an activity and stay interested in it for a good amount of time. It has been perfect timing, my fears of him being too young to be a big brother are gone. He has been great and is a great age.
Rockwell has been sleeping really great for us. His first night home he slept a 4 hour and then 5 hour stint back to back, just eating in between. But no other peeps, squeaks or poops to bother any of our sleep else wise. The next night, two 5 hour stints. Really, we can't complain.
But none-the-less we have been catching some extra Zzzz's when possible.
(It's pretty popular right now for little boy clothes to say something "Rocks" or say "Rockstar" or have guitars or something on them, I don't pick the trends.. I'm not sure why. However, when we decided on Rockwell's name and started noticing the trend all the sudden I thought everything was made just for him and have had to get him several little things that have his name on them! I just pretend the "s" is in the wrong place and his hat really says "Mommy's Rock").
We are loving adjusting. Loving our new little man. And loving Dax as a "big brother".
We are pretty much just loving life these days.
precious! so glad things are going well and the little Dax is adjusting to life as a big brother.
