Ouch!

Today Dax had his first shots, three in his thighs and one oral immunization. Dax was braver than his Mom but the Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck bandaids made us both feel a little better. Tonite Mom is still moping from hearing her son's first cries of pain and Dax is back to cooing and playing!

Smiles

Over the past several weeks Dax has been learning how to smile. It is almost a daily quest of mine to capture the elusive smile on camera. For every smile (or attempted smile) I get on camera there are 15 blurry, awkward or frowny pictures- I'm grateful for digital cameras, I'd kill my budget paying for film! Here are some of Dax's heartwarmers.(Argh.. these cheeks are SO heavy to lift!)How many chins do you count?Mister Charming is right.Giggles.Good morning smiles.

Pretty priceless.

Cruisin'

Dax has started to enjoy riding in the car and stroller. He makes cruisin' look so good.
Trying to see out from under his hat and above his cheeks.Another new talent- spit bubbles.Out for a jog around the Neighborhood's pond with Mom. This day the geese had arrived and were honking at us- Spring must be coming soon! And here is Dax cruisin' around the bath tub! I heard that you could use a Bumbo in a bath so your baby could sit up and play in the tub. It probably is a good idea, but Dax isn't big enough yet- he started floating when we let go! He quite enjoyed it and we enjoyed the laugh at the sight of the little man chillin in his own personal lazy-river.

2 Months

Dax is 2 Months old already!
DAX MORRISON at 2 Months
Weight: 12 lbs
Height: 22 3/4 Inches
Head Circumference: 39.3 cm
(both in the 50th %-tile for Height and Weight) Dax is still such a sweetie at 2 Months. He is learning how to smile, giggle and talk. He is getting strong and curious on what is going on around him. Below you can see that his eyes still haven't settled on a color. Latley they are a really pretty grey/blue color.Dax has been looking hansome at the ripe old age of 2 Months. Here is Dax talking and as you can see from his cheeks, he is still a good eater! Dax is still a great sleeper for us. He takes great naps during the day and on most nights sleeps between 6-8 1/2 Hours at night. When Dax wakes up at between 9PM-7AM he eats for 5-10 minutes and goes right back to sleep. He wakes up happy and spends time cooing in his bed before he wants up. He feel lucky and are aware that Dax's siblings might not sleep this well!I don't let Dax sleep on his belly very often and this is why.. he is completely happy sleeping with his face down into the ground. His Dad sleeps like this sometimes too, but for a new mom is scares me to death when I see him move his head to be sleeping like this! Dax at 2 Months is more loved than ever. This is the scene that happens whenever we bring Dax to my parent's. We bring in the carseat, put it down and immediately feet come running to see him and push us out of the way before we can even get the little guy out of his seat (I'm sure they are excited to see Curtis and me too!).It seems like 2 Months went by fast, but on the other hand I can't remember life without this little guy!

A Stay-at-Home Mom

Most women go back to work fulltime between 6-8 weeks postpartum. So for the past couple weeks I have been thinking a lot about how my life would be different if I were back at work and was taking Dax to a sitter. I have shed many a tear of joy the past couple weeks, I am so grateful to be home everyday with my greatest blessing, my son. Here are some of the times that I am grateful to be home for everyday...
"Goo" Time

Tummy TimePlay TimeNap TimeAnd most important.. Mommy Time!I know that sometimes Moms don't want to stay home or can't afford to stay home, but for me- I can not afford to NOT stay home. My biggest blessing is not missing any "times" with my son. This is the job I always wanted and the most important job I will ever have!

I am absolutely loving everyday.

Happy Birthday

Today was Curt's 25th Birthday! We have been celebrating with family for days but also had our own little family celebration tonite! And this year we had Dax to join in on the celebration with us! We had Curt's favorite dinner and dessert, sang and watched Curt play with his gifts. It was so fun to feel like our own little family!
Dax with Curt's gifts, waiting to suprise Daddy!Curtis and Dax with his gifts. Wonder what that big one is?! Curt's big gift was his Graduation, Christmas and Birthday gift. And it is looking like Father's Day this year too! :-) Dax got his Daddy his own little gift, too.It was "Monster's, Inc." to watch together on the new TV!And I got Curt some gel. Since my little sister Melanie became a hair stylist Curt and I (unfortunatly) have become hair product snobs and can't find store brands that work for us anymore! One thing I love about Curt is that I could wrap up a used kleenex and he would still pull this ridiculously excited face for me. Love that boy!Curtis isn't a huge fan of cake (he mostly just uses it as a nice presentation for his icing!). So instead I just make him his favorite dessert. Which works great for me because it is SO easy. It takes about 5 minutes to make and for some reason tastes better than Cookies & Cream ice cream- which it basically is!
Oreo Dessert:
1/2 gallon Vanilla ice cream
1 12oz. tub of Cool Whip
1 pkg. crushed Regular Oreos
Crush oreos, mix all together, pour in 9x13 pan and freeze. And our favorite gift of all...On Monday we went to my parent's house. March 1st is my Dad's birthday. I made him this triple layer carrot cake (his favorite). Here's my Dad and nephew, Easton, blowing out the candles. (I'll huff and I'll puff..)On Sunday we went to Curt's parents house to celebrate Curt's birthday there. I love this picture because Curtis and his Dad have the same silly smile. Except Curtis was smiling at me and Carlos was smiling at a grand-daughter on the floor. Curt's sister made yummy Chocolate Raspberry Cupcakes.Curt's parents just got a brand new puppy named Dutchess to go with thier tradition of dogs named Duke. Dax was not impressed!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CURTIS! Hoping for many more quarters of a century with you around. You are SO loved!
