Perfect

Our perfect son, Rockwell.
These portraits were taken when Rockwell was exactly one month old. So, I have to be honest, I have had these portraits in my possession for several weeks. However, how does a  Mom pick just a few of her favorites to post out of a whole CD of perfect newborn pictures of her perfect newborn? An impossible task!
Gosh, he's adorable.
We all love him SO much!
(My friend Kim Davis captured these photos. Thanks Kim, they are perfect!)

A Mama

I love being "a Mama"!
(as Dax calls me.. "a Mama, a Mama")
It is true what they say about how fast kids grow up. And Rockwell seems to be getting bigger faster than Dax did, time just races forward. I feel like I'm constantly trying to grasp the moments as they fly past. I'm trying to find the time to just be still and enjoy each moment as "a Mama".

Playtime with Cousins

The Gibbs from St. Louis came to visit for a week at Nana and Papa's we loved getting to play with them as well as the Gibbs in town, almost everyday. Playtime at Nana & Papa's is so fun for Dax, he loves playing with the big kids!
Cousin wrestle time.
 Cousin snuggle time.
Coloring with cousins (lots and lots and lots of coloring).
 Playing with dolls and cousins.
(This day Miss Jay had several dolls out and saw that I was feeding Rockwell. So she brought her dolls to me and said "please?" asking for them to eat as well. I ended up with Rockwell and four of her dollies (with diapers) all on my lap. I was a busy Mama!).
 Outside play.
 Ring-around-the-Rosy.
 Quiet movie time.
And this is what Rockwell did most of our play times.

Christmas Jammies

For Christmas every year, Nana & Papa give the grand kids new jammies. This year over Thanksgiving Break, Nana and Papa watched all the kids for a Pizza and Movie night and gave them jammies early.
2011 Jammie Party
 Kisses for Nana and Papa!
(We were missing one cousin, Grey from Arizona, hence the teddy bear with matching jammies in the middle of the group.)

Fast forward FIVE years

Curtis and I have now been married 5 years.
Our boys are lucky enough to get hand-me-downs from several of our nephews and two of the nephews in this picture passed down their pink ties that they wore at our wedding. So today at church our boys wore pink ties from our wedding in celebration of our Anniversary.
Fast forward FIVE years and here are the ties... pretty sweet.
Curtis and I share our Anniversary with my brother Riley and his wife. My other brother Tyler is a fantastic chef and was in town for our Anniversaries, he voluntarily cooked the four of us a 5 course, 5 star meal. We ate in a bedroom, upstairs at my parents house and dressed up the room and ourselves for the occasion.
Tyler prepared for us a cheese course, beautiful green salad, butternut squash spiced soup, a french style roasted rack of lamb/ saddle-back potatoes/ green bean entree and for dessert this beauty...
A layered pumpkin bread pudding; with a frozen spiced apple layer in the middle, white chocolate pudding on the side, topped with whipped cream, chocolate shavings and caramel. Seriously, it was one of the best things I have ever eaten. We also went through 2 and a half bottles of sparkling juice and laughed and chatted through the whole meal. It was a seriously good time and we are trying to figure out how to make it a tradition!
(Thanks SO much, Ty!)

Five WONDERFUL years down and many, many, many more to come. I love you, Curtis.

Thanksgiving 2011

Thanksgiving really is my favorite holiday. I love it. Over the past several months I have had more difficulty than normal feeling thankful, even though my life is so full of blessings. I have been so anxious for us to get a job, graduate, have a bigger home, own a minivan, etc. etc. that I lost focus on how to feel truly thankful. So the week of Thanksgiving I decided to only offer prayers of gratitude, I wouldn't ask for a thing. It really gave me time to reflect on just how truly blessed I am. Above all else, I am so thankful for my husband (Thanksgiving day was our 5th Anniversary of Marriage!), my family and my Savior. And isn't that what this season is all about?
We had a perfect Thanksgiving as a family.
Our two little Turkeys.

We watched the Macy's parade.
The boys all went outside during dinner prep to play some Turkey Bowl.
(Nice stretch, Papa.)
 (Nice face, Ty.)
(Nice kick, Ry.)
(Meanwhile, visions of footballs danced in his head.)
And of course, we enjoyed a fantastic feast, as is tradition. Here was the kid's table.
And then we all "chose up teams and had a nap".
I am so thankful and so blessed.
Happy Thanksgiving 2011.
