Where did you get those CHEEKS?

I can't tell you how many times I have been asked where Dax gets his cheeks. I didn't know until the other day when I was looking at my Teddy Bear, Arthur. Their cheeks look just the same!
Curtis gave me Arthur when we were just dating in High School. He saw me through many years of Curtis away at College or in Argentina. Then while we waited for Dax's arrival Arthur got dressed and diapered and read to and slept in Dax's crib. Now that Curtis is home and Dax is here, Arthur takes a backseat. But his is still a loved family member, especially with matching cheeks and fuzzcut as Dax.

Rollin' Part Two

As a special Father's Day present, Dax for the first time ROLLED from his back to his tummy!
Admittedly, Curtis and I both missed his first time doing it (these pictures are his second). But he has been rolling like a maniac ever since. Dax still doesn't roll off of his tummy over to his back on purpose, just happens to remember how to do it every now and then. Now, if only he started liking being on his tummy. That way, all his hard work rolling over onto his belly wasn't wasted once he figures out that he is there!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, Curtis. We celebrated a wonderful Father's Day with a few gifts, family and a typical wonderful day as our little family.

For Father's Day Curtis got the customary Ties & Socks from Dax.
(The gift that made it a REAL Father's Day!)
And a cell phone from me, so that he can keep up with my texts!
Some of my favorite pictures of Curtis & Dax lately:
Curtis on his usual walk around our little yard and garden after work.
Twin "spikey" hair and sunglasses.
Sometimes Dax thinks shoulder rides are just a great way to suck on the back of his Dad's head. Note Dax's grip on his Dad.
My two favorite guys.
Happy Father's Day to the best little Dad. I am blessed with the greatest husband and am so grateful to he is the Father to my son.

Asay Family Reunion 2010

Saturday, was our Annual Asay Family Reunion. It was jam-packed with family (lots and lots of family), Family photos,
lots of food and treats (Yes, I saw you sneaking Dax a popsicle Curtis!),
lots of sports, competitions and games (we all loved watching Carlos get beat over and over playing Wii with all the grandsons),
gifts from Grandpa & Grandma,
those dang "snappers" fireworks which all the boys resorted to throwing at each other (Curtis snapping his older brother, Jarrad in the back of the neck...
... pesky little brother laughing about it),
swimming, squirt guns, water balloons and other water fun,
getting lots of loves from Great Grandpa,
chillin' with cousins (Kinley, 3 Months),
a 'Baby Sprinkle' for Kathy and the last 2010 Cousin (who arrived less than a week later!),
and in true Asay fashion, we concluded our day with Fireworks.
Dax was so happy all day and then was exhausted, he and Curtis slept in until 9:30 the next morning - I had no idea babies knew how to sleep in!
It was a great day, see you all next year!

FUZZ-Cut

Dax's hair is all growing in at mostly the same length. It is very fine and soft and does not want to do anything but stand straight out! As soon as it is dry it is standing at attention.
His hair in the front has grown out a little longer and I will spike it every now and then so it looks like his hair is an actual "do". But most the time, nowadays, he sports the fuzzy little teddy bear look.

5 Months

Today Dax is 5 months old! He is becoming so much more social. He has started to cry at the occasional stranger and arches his back while doing excited jumping jacks when a friendly face comes to get him out of his crib. He laughs everyday and is learning to make others laugh. Sometimes he thinks he is quite a comedian (who knew by making a silly noise he could get his parents to laugh so easily!). He loves standing especially if he is standing on something making him taller than everyone else. Dax has recently started loving his toes, grabbing and grunting trying to get them into his mouth. He is doing a great job sitting up and can sit by himself for about a minute. He still isn't too much of a tummy-time fan, he sometimes even kicks his feet in protest, it's too bad we just laugh at him because it is SO cute!

Dax sitting up SO big!
Showing off his cheek profile.
Dax is still a GREAT sleeper, usually sleeping 8-11 hours at night and taking 3 or 4 naps during the day. This is after he fell asleep on the way home- he was exhausted.
Dax is playing so much more. He has started reaching and grabbing for things that look interesting to him.
Among his favorite things to grab are: Mom's waterbottle, Dad's glasses off his face and Nana's earings.
He gets really excited when he sees his favorite toys and has started curling his little legs up while playing- he looks like a real baby!
Everyday I think Dax has new "first"s and we are loving watching him grow and learn by leaps and bounds!
