Friends

Our good friends, the Allens, came to visit. Although it was just for an afternoon it was so great to catch up with them. We both had little boys since we saw each other last, over the summer.
Rockwell & Grady
(Rockwell was pretty thrilled by finally meeting his new friend!)
 Leon & Dax.
These boys played together really well, the only major problem is that Dax seems to lack most of a space-bubble and when he is excited with his friends he'll get right in their faces to talk or kiss/hug them too much. It got old, evidently, but Dax hadn't seen his buddy for a long time - he's just a friendly little guy!
We miss you, friends!

Additions this Year

Our FIFTH Anniversary Angel, the Angel of Prayer.
And a FOURTH stocking, little Rockwell's on the far right.
(My mom was gracious to make Rockwell's this year after last year I discovered that I do not, in any way, enjoy quilting! Thanks Mom!)

Caroling with Grandpa

Over Christmas break, several of us local Asays gathered together at Grandpa's nursing home and took him caroling with us in the hallways of his home. We all donned some sort of hat and the big man dressed up as Santa. We jingled bells and did our best to bring some cheer to those we visited with.
(Dax still wasn't sure about sitting on Santa's lap- even though he knew him! He spent the next several days calling Santa "Grandpa" and pictures of Grandpa "Santa", he was so confused!)
And we even saw Santa kissing Grandma, shhh!!

O Christmas Tree -2011

Dax loved every part of having a tree in our house. When we opened the patio door and started bringing our carefully picked our tree into our house, he about blew a gasket with excitement overload.
He was more than happy to help decorate, destroy and then un-decorate his Dad's efforts. I carefully rocked Rockwell to sleep, sat back and laughed at the whole project.
Dax discovered the best way to get the lights to stay on the tree was to stand on the fireplace and throw them.
And then when they would stick, he'd look at me and do this fist pump with the accompanying "Woohoo, I did it!".

Christmas Tree Shopping

This year we took the boys to cut down our own Christmas Tree. Dax loved walking through the trees and asking "This one? This one" then would shake his head and say "no" and head to the next. We thoroughly checked out dozens of trees before we found a perfect one just our size.
Cut 'er down, Asay!
Dax was so excited about the cutting down and dragging the tree out part, he loves anything with tools and helping Daddy.
Two adorable, bundled up little boys (Rockwell had so many layers on that he could not bend, just like a stiff baby doll)
Watching the tree get all it's needles shook. Picking out, cutting down and bringing home a real Christmas tree is so fun for us, well worth the hassle. Curtis has very few non-negotiables, but putting up a real Christmas tree is one. The smell, the look, the nostalgia- we love everything about them.

Growing too fast

How do these little boys grow up so fast?
These two are still too cute for words, and growing too fast.
Rockwell has started grabbing; toys, hair, plates, etc. etc. I may be creating a Mama's boy, but I know how fast he'll transition into an active little boy that won't want to be held all the time- so for now, I have the hardest time letting anyone else hold my baby or putting him down. I love these little boys!

Discipline

When Dax gets in trouble he has to sit down and fold his arms. Today he did both the mess and the disciplining by himself, we found him like this...
